This Phrase-Book for Oil and Gas Industry Specialists was compiled to facilitate adaptation of expatriate oilfield personnel to language environment of Russian oil and gas fields for direct communication with Russian personnel. We continuously work to make people understand each other better. Hopefully this pocket-size phrase-book will contribute to this purpose. This phrase-book covers the following topics: computers, seismic exploration and geology, well drilling and completions, oil production, transportation and refining, safety and environment. Some common phrases and words (days of week, months, numerals, greetings) are also included. This phrase-book contains about 1,500 words and expressions and 400 acronyms. Pronunciation assistance tool is provided for each word combination to help you master Russian sounds. It is given in English letters, which makes it comprehensible and easy to read compared to conventional transcription signs. In the field, especially in case of no translators available, this phrase-book may be of great assistance for better communication between Russian and English-speaking specialists. Anyway, if you look through this phrase-book prior to visiting Russian oil industry sites, you will find a lot of Russian oil and gas field realities including abbreviations, which will be very helpful for you during your stay in Russia.
